Kathy McGrath - Kapi

KATHY MCGRATH'S BIO: 

Kathy McGrath was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in the mid-west of America. She has been happily married for over thirty-five years and is the proud mother of four children and grandmother to five grandchildren. As a full-time professional artist, Kathy has been passionately creating beautiful, unique art, including vibrant acrylic paintings and original ink drawings, for over forty-five years. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be an artist, taking every art class available during her high school years. Kathy has dedicated her life to pursuing her passion through her artwork, which is gaining worldwide notoriety as highly sought after pieces. 

Kathy is renowned for her intuitive expressionistic style, which shines through in her original ink drawings and stunning acrylic paintings. Her work exudes uplifting and inspiring themes, infused with vibrant colors. She thrives on bringing positive energy into all her art. 

Recently, Kathy renovated her art studio, installing hardwood floors and giving the walls a fresh coat of paint—both projects completed entirely by herself. Currently, she is developing a variety of collections to expand her already wide range of art, including limited edition prints. A Mastery Graduate of the Milan Art Institute, Kathy finished the full course in under a year and is also a member of the Society of Professional Artists (SOPA). She's eager to compete on the upcoming reality show, The Outstanding Artist, and travel more to find exciting inspiration for her stunning art. 

Kathy's famous quote, which encapsulates her mission, is: "I create art because it makes me happy; I share my art to inspire others to be happy!" 

WHY KAPI: 

People often ask why I sign my art as Kapi. The explanation is straightforward and dear to my heart. Years ago, when my nieces and nephews were young, most of them couldn’t say Aunt Kathy, resulting in the affectionate term Aunt Kapi. This title resonated with me and became my signature for my art. Over the years, I’ve had various versions, but ultimately, it remained... Kapi. 

KATHY MCGRATH'S ARTIST STATEMENT: 

I found a profound passion for art at a very young age. When I am drawing or painting, it's driven by the joy and happiness I feel in my heart. My motivation is for my collectors to experience that same emotion when they view my art. My ultimate desire as an artist is to inspire people to be happy, bringing a sense of joy and brightness into their lives. I aim for my art to leave a powerful impact, radiating positive energy to everyone who collects or views my acrylic paintings and ink drawings. 

MISSION: 

kathymcgrath.art was created from a desire to inspire happiness! Using vibrant colors and delightful themes, I evoke a range of feelings and emotions. It’s my wish for everyone who views my art, including my limited edition prints, to feel those positive, happy vibes reflected in the colors and subjects I paint. The ultimate intention is for the viewer to experience feel-good sensations that brighten their day and infuse great energy into their space with my art.
